On
Friday, April 9, 2004, I drove 2.5 hours to Indianapolis to pick up my new four
post service hoist from Gary Smith Equipment.
The shipping size is a
bundle about 17 ft long, and weighs in at 1500 pounds.
An easy load for the 2000 Tundra
V8 with only 80,000 miles.
My shop is a 30 x 50 pole
building my friends and I put up about 11 years ago. It was built with 12 foot side walls for the motor home we owned
back then.
I included an I-beam and ½
ton chain fall during the construction.
The chain fall came in handy when I unloaded the trailer and put the hoist together.
Notice the caster set in this view. These casters allow the hoist to be moved, empty or loaded.
I pulled the hoist out into the drive while I moved vehicles around in the shop.
Now you can see my 1980 Corvette (seldom driven) on top and my VW Thing parked underneath. My preference is to drive the Volkswagen when I can.
The hoist came with a jack
tray and three moveable drip pans to protect the Thing.
But the main reason for
getting this hoist was service work, and I am really looking forward to putting
it to use.
